In a stunning development prior to the UEFA Women's Euro 2025, Switzerland, the host nation, experienced a heavy 7-1 defeat in a friendly match against Luzern's Under-15 boys team. The closed-door match, divided into three 30-minute periods, was intended to be confidential, but the scoreline was leaked on social media.

According to reports from the Swiss news outlet Blick, a young player from Luzern shared footage from the game on TikTok, revealing the unexpected result. The video, which included Juventus forward Alisha Lehmann and fellow international Alayah Pilgrim, reportedly gained over 70,000 views before its removal. Lehmann is a prominent figure in women's soccer, with a significant Instagram following of nearly 17 million.

This isn't the first instance of the Swiss women's team facing youth teams as part of their Euro preparations. They previously lost 2-1 to FC Solothurn's U-15 team during their training camp, but managed a 2-1 victory against FC Biel's U-15s.

While the result may be surprising, the Swiss Football Association has minimized its significance. Spokesperson Sven Micosse explained that competing against junior teams is a common practice in women's soccer. "The objective is to introduce a competitive element. During this preparation phase, the emphasis is on physical conditioning. Regardless of the outcome, these training matches closely resemble our international matches in terms of intensity and distance covered."

Switzerland, having automatically qualified for Euro 2025 as the host nation, is scheduled to play a formal friendly against Czechia on Thursday before commencing their tournament campaign against Norway on July 2.
