Following his impressive 10-wicket haul in the series-leveling victory at Edgbaston, Akash Deep has become a sensation. His outstanding performance on a challenging pitch has garnered widespread praise from the cricketing community.
Akash Deep's figures of 6 for 99 in the second innings contributed to a match total of 10 for 187. Now, a video circulating on social media captures an English fan's unique tribute to the 28-year-old Indian pacer outside the Edgbaston ground.
The fan sings, "Akash Deep, Akash Deep Bowling England Out, Akash Deep!" showcasing the impact of Deep's performance on even the opposing team's supporters.
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar lauded Akash Deep as the "standout bowler" of the match, specifically highlighting his delivery to dismiss Joe Root in the second innings as the "ball of the series."
Tendulkar expressed his admiration on social media, stating, "India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled."
He further added, "Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
Tendulkar also humorously acknowledged Siraj's diving catch at short mid-wicket, commenting, "Enjoyed the catch taken by Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj."
