Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming tour, stating, "We are delighted to confirm Sri Lanka's visit to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a thrilling and competitive series."

The T20I series holds particular significance for the Zimbabwean side as it precedes the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final. This crucial tournament, hosted by Zimbabwe starting September 19, presents a golden opportunity for the team to secure their place in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2027.

Makoni further emphasized the historical competitiveness between the two nations, adding, "Matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket, and this tour comes at a crucial time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign."

This series marks the beginning of a busy three-month period for Zimbabwe cricket. Following the Sri Lanka tour, Zimbabwe is also scheduled to host South Africa and New Zealand for two-match Test series. A T20I tri-series featuring all three nations is also planned.
